What happens if a teacher quits mid-year?

I'm looking into a job possibility that would require me to relocate to Houston. My fiance is a special ed teacher in Delaware. If I were to take the offer, and we are able to find a job for her in Houston, is there something in her contract that would prevent her from resigning during certain periods of the year?
