Tips for a beginner runner?

Ok when I went into 7th grade I was out of shape but I wanted to do cross country. In this sport u run 1.89 miles straight. They had us run the course and told us if u have to stop and walk then do it but try not to. So I did it. Let me tell u it was hard. But I learned that if u stop to walk then run again it is harder to run. So maybe Try to run a mile and stop whenever needed. After a while all we did for the sport was stretch, run for 30 min straight then play tag for the rest of practice. It was so fun. If u cant run a mile and u are in pain then run for 5 min walk for 3. Do that for 30 min every day until u can run for 10 and walk for 2 hen get to where u never walk. Always stretch tho before and after. Drink lots of water. Eat carbs like pasta. Good luck sry this is long I'm tying to give u a variety of ways lol.
