What type of drum heads should I use on the PDP X7?

I am a couple hundred dollars away from buying the pdp x7. I read reviews saying it has a warm deep tone if you tune it right and use good heads. I have a 5 piece sound percussion which is 4 years old and my first set ever. I have clear Evans EC2's on them and they sound super muffled and the sound dies immediately after hitting it. Granted, that may be the kit making it sound that way but I'm not sure what type of heads to get. I'm looking for a deep warm sound that will last after I hit it. I'm open to any suggestions, but just remember that sound I want. Thanks.
